AFCON 2025: Super Eagles are ready to soar — NFF President Gusau

 President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau, has expressed strong confidence in the Super Eagles ability to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.Nigeria will be aiming for a fourth AFCON title, having narrowly missed out on glory in the last edition after a 21 defeat to hosts Cte dIvoire in the final.Gusau stated that lifting the AFCON trophy would help ease the pain of the Super Eagles failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while also restoring pride among Nigerian football fans worldwide.We have prepared the team with the objective of lifting the trophy. The World Cup miss still bites, but if we are able to win the Africa Cup of Nations, it will go a long way to assuaging the feelings of our fans at home and in the diaspora, Gusau said.He added that winning the continental title would be significant for the current squad, giving them a major achievement to define their era.It will also be good for the present generation of Super Eagles, as they will have at least one major triumph to their name, he noted.Gusau also highlighted the commitment of the NFF to providing strong logistical and welfare support for the team despite economic challenges.It has not been easy, but we have to continue to appreciate and show that we value the contributions of the players and officials at all times.
